Chhath Puja wishes with name, in one paragraph
A Chhath Puja wish with your name on it is an ordinary greeting card with one thing changed: it says who sent it. Type your name on this page and you get a card that opens with “Asha is wishing you Blessed Chhath Puja” instead of a forward from nobody in particular. It is free, takes about ten seconds, and there is nothing to sign up for.
What Chhath Puja celebrates
Chhath is four days of some of the hardest fasting in the calendar, offered to the sun and to Chhathi Maiya. Its most recognisable image is a line of people standing waist-deep in a river at dawn with their hands raised. Wikipedia's overview of Chhath has the fuller picture.
When Chhath Puja falls
Chhath Puja 2026 runs over four days, from Friday, 13 November to Monday, 16 November.
Six days after Diwali, in the month of Kartik — October or November.
Most Indian festivals follow a lunar calendar, so the date moves against the Gregorian one each year. For the official dates, the Government of India holiday calendar is the one to check.
How Chhath Puja is celebrated
- Nahay Khay, Kharna, and then a fast of about 36 hours without water
- Arghya offered to the setting sun, then again to the rising sun
- Thekua, the day's pressed wheat sweet, made at home
- Bamboo soop trays carried to the river heaped with fruit and sugarcane
Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh and Nepal's Terai — and wherever people from those places have moved, which is why Mumbai and Delhi riverbanks fill too. It follows Diwali by six days, in the same run of Kartik observances as Guru Nanak Gurpurab.
What people say
Happy Chhath Puja, or Chhathi Maiya ki jai.
Putting your name on it
- Type your name in the box on this page. First name is enough — no email, no password, no account.
- Tap GO. Your card opens with your name at the top, on artwork drawn for Chhath Puja specifically.
- Share it. One tap hands it to WhatsApp with the message already written — send it to a person, a group, or your Status. Whoever opens it lands on this same page with their own name box waiting, so it carries on down the family group without anyone installing anything.

Straight answers
- How long is the Chhath fast?
- The central fast runs roughly 36 hours without food or water, from Kharna through to the morning arghya on the fourth day.
- Why is the setting sun worshipped first?
- Chhath is one of very few observances anywhere that salutes the setting sun before the rising one — thanks offered for what has already been given, before anything is asked for.
- Who can keep the Chhath fast?
- Traditionally kept by women, though men keep it too. The person fasting is called the parvaitin, and the whole household organises around them.
- Is Chhath Puja also called Surya Shashthi?
- Yes — Surya Shashthi names the same festival directly after what it is: Surya, the sun, worshipped on Shashthi, the sixth lunar day. Chhath and Chhath Puja are simply the more common names for it.
- How do I send a Chhath Puja wish with my name on it?
- Type your name in the box on this page and tap GO. You get a card that opens with your name on it, and a button that hands the whole thing to WhatsApp. It is free, and there is nothing to sign up for.
- Is this Chhath Puja greeting really free?
- Yes. No account, no watermark, no upgrade prompt and nothing to install. Your name travels inside the link rather than being stored anywhere.
- Can I add a photo to my Chhath Puja wish?
- Not at the moment. This puts your name on original artwork drawn for Chhath Puja rather than your photo on a template, so there is no upload step. If a photo frame is what you are after, one of the photo-frame sites will serve you better.
- Can I download my Chhath Puja wish as an image?
- No, and that is deliberate. It is a live page rather than a picture file, so it always opens crisp — never a screenshot re-compressed for the tenth time — and you share it as a link instead of an attachment.
